We&#8217;ve never traveled to Baja before, so the trip was new.<\/p>\n<p>We traveled through Yuma on our way to Mexicali where we would cross into Mexico. Just past Yuma and into California are these incredible sand dunes. We stopped to enjoy the scene and to let the dogs run wild.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/muchachopolaco.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/sand-dune-dogs.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-2326\" title=\"sand dune dogs\" src=\"http:\/\/muchachopolaco.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/sand-dune-dogs.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"559\" height=\"360\" srcset=\"http:\/\/muchachopolaco.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/sand-dune-dogs.jpg 932w, http:\/\/muchachopolaco.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/sand-dune-dogs-300x193.jpg 300w, http:\/\/muchachopolaco.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/sand-dune-dogs-150x96.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 559px) 100vw, 559px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>It was far too hot for December and it didn&#8217;t take long for the dogs to exhaust themselves.<\/p>\n<p>Mexicali is a typical ugly border town. We made our way quickly through it and on our way to Tecate. In between Mexicali and Tecate is a fairly treacherous leg of the journey called La Rumerosa. It&#8217;s a curvy and mountainous highway with little room for error.
