It was brutally hot, but as always, so much fun. The jeep had a rough start. I had the ball joints and tie rods replaced in preparation a few days prior. The mechanic either didn&#8217;t use a crown nut or didn&#8217;t put the cotter pin in the crown nut, because one of the tie rods disconnected on the way to the dunes. Never a fun sensation to lose control of your steering while veering into oncoming traffic and then ending up in the ditch. By God&#8217;s grace, we didn&#8217;t die. I pulled off a nut from the steering damper to use to reconnect the tie rod, and then pulled a lug nut to reconnect the steering damper. It wasn&#8217;t long before I was back on the road.<\/p>\n<p>I brought my next door neighbor David with me.
