Final day

Yesterday was our final day of years in a house we loved in a neighborhood we loved. As of today we no longer live in Mexico.

On Friday our neighbors had a party for us with great wine and carne asada. We were really close with many of them and even took vacations with a few of them. We will miss their company and their food.

Around midnight we gave a tour of our home. It felt strange empty.

And then yesterday we handed the keys to our home back to our landlord Rosendo. We have had a great relationship with Rosendo over the years. He’s a great guy.

Buqui gear

On our way up to Tucson last week I stopped at Buqui Bichi to pick up some shirts for our friends. Sergio hooked me up with an after hour purchase. He was there alone cleaning the fermenters. I love that place. Also I love that I get free beer when I visit.

The end of an era…

Last Saturday marked an important day for us.

We celebrated that evening eating at Alissio’s new restaurant. We have known him since he opened his first restaurant here in town nearly 7 years ago. His new place is so much nicer than his last place.

He prepared my meal table side in a large wheel of cheese. It was magnifico.

Yun walking Rafael

Yun and Alejandra are on a walk around the neighborhood with Rafael right now. They watched a YouTube tutorial to instruct them how to make a little wrap thing you can see there in the photo.

Tucson soon…

Yun and I will soon be living in Tucson if things continue according to plan. We found a home to rent last week and secured it. Rental rates have skyrocketed since our departure. Tucson is unbelievably expensive now compared to how it was upon our departure.

On Thursday we had our traditional steak and potato dinner. As always, it was supremely enjoyable. Once we are living in Tucson, I am not sure what this tradition will look like.

Sold the Jeep

With joy and a bit of sadness, I sold my Jeep last week. I sold it or nearly double what I paid for it 5 years ago. Normally vehicles are not a good investment, but this turned out to be an exception.

I have probably put on less than a hundred miles on it in the last year. I never use it and therefore it was good to get rid of it. Even so, I did enjoy its rustic glory.

PF Chang

We celebrated Yun’s 41st in Tucson last week. We had a bday dinner at PF Changs. This place used to be nice. It is no longer nice.

New Years in Kino

Iglesia de Kino

Yun and I took a trip to Kino for a few days to celebrate the New Year. It is hard to believe that is 2020 already. I watched a preview of Back to the Future II yesterday where the movie takes place in 2015. The movie was made in the late 80s, but their conception of 2015 included flying cars.

Tuesday was a bit colder than Monday (which was in the mid-70s), so we decided to take a hike up to a little chapel that we saw on a hill behind the house we were renting. The picture is misleading. It was steep. So steep I nearly died from fatigue. At least I got some sweet drone footage.

New Year’s morning was beautiful. It was in the 70s by 9am. We spent the morning on the beach enjoying our coffees.

I took this foto 10 seconds ago. We are in Kino today. We are here for half a week to celebrate New Years. It is real nice out today. We will miss this.
