I am so tired of jack hammering up this tile. I hate it. My back is destroyed. Maybe 2 more days and we are done.

The demo process is getting tiring. The saltillo is terrible. Sometime it comes up easy… other times it is do difficult. I am so tired of the jack hammering.

I hope to be done in a week. My body is tired.

We now have an idea when the tile was installed.
We have so much cactus on the property. Many different varieties and sizes. Here’s a photo of a magnificent sahuaro we have in the backyard.

Matt and Dana came over today to help us with some demo. Matter my continued with the jackhammering, finishing the master closet and then we moved on to the hallway period from the hallway we moved into the formal living room area. Progress is so much faster with 2 people doing this.

We also ripped out the carpet in the 2 spare bedrooms and the concrete underneath the carpet is in great condition and will be ready for the new flooring.
And then beer reward.

The house has some pretty terrible tile. It’s a clay Saltillo tile. We want to remove about 2000 ft² of this disaster. On Thursday I began with the master bedroom. I bought a 23 pound demolition hammer from harbour freight and a 2″ chisel to make my way through it. So far it’s worked pretty well.

Some areas it comes up easy and other areas it’s really difficult. But after the day I was able to finish the master bedroom.

I ordered a scraper so that I can get all the thin set off. That won’t arrive until Monday, so I will continue with rest house until that point.
Last weekend we travelled to Hermosillo to celebrate Christmas. This year it was at Gabby’s house.

After closing under house Wednesday afternoon, Matt and Dana came over to enjoy some time in the backyard with our new fire bowl.
After many years of wanting to buy our own house, it finally happened! It was no small miracle to be sure. After all, we’ve only lived in the country less than half a year which would normally disqualify us from a mortgage. Through a series of events, we were able to connect with people that could make it happen. No small thing.

Last Wednesday we were able to close on our new home. A home that was initially way out of our price range.
We are excited.

We celebrated the end of 2020 last night with friends at Mcreynolds house. The bacanora was memorable
