my new ride

IMG-20141012-WA0002

I picked up a sweet new ride last week in the form of a Jeep Wrangler YJ. I love it. It’s the perfect vehicle for me and for this part of the world. The roads here are incredibly rough. They would be smoother if they were dirt most of the time. Our Mazda and VW run fairly low to the ground. So the ground clearance I have with this thing is spectacular.

Jeep parts are abundantly available and as such, are quite affordable. There are a few things I’d like to replace asap. The cluth, tie rods, ball joints, along with a thorough tune up. It runs just fine, but my hope is to take it to the dunes next month and I’m not sure how ready it would be for that in its current condition. Having my own vehicle at the dunes means I can take the dogs with me. That should be a lot of fun.

What? You bought a Jeep? What year is it? I used to have an ’88 Wrangler. I was constantly working on it. Good luck!

It is a 95, the last production year of the YJ. So it has the rectangular lights which I happen to prefer, though it seems most don’t. I love it. Working on them seems relatively straight forward and I am looking forward to doing that.

Did you ever change your rear differential fluid and gasket? It looks easy, but I’ve never done that before.
