Our flight from Tucson was delayed over an hour, which was our layover in Dallas. AA staff were so kind, they moved us to the front of the plane and with a full sprint in Dallas, we made it to Terminal D and our gate, just as they were closing. Last ones on and we are in the very back. Good times.
Had some friends over for New Year’s Eve last night. We did 500g rib eyes which, though magnifico, is far too much and we need to stop that tradition. The cigars and bacanora helped settle things. I didn’t think I would make it to midnight, but ended up going all the way to 2am. Hard to believe we are now in 2023.
We came down to HMO for xmas this year. Much wamrer than at home which is a nice change. I made 10 pounds of potatoes for dinner last night (mashed) and 10 more pounds for breakfast (Polish potato pancakes). Not exactly Keto friendly.
We went out to meet with Sergio this evening for a beer. We ended up ordering nearly everything on the menu!
A few weeks back over Thanksgiving weekend we traveled down to Kino Bay. Matt and Dana were with us and we brought Carl and Shelley and Brant and Stacy. The place we stay at is so impressive. We had such a great time.
We had red meat for dinner every night. On the way down we stopped at Taste and picked up some half kilo rib eyes each.
Lots of music and singing late into the evenings
We toasted the sunset each night.
Our friends Orlando and Ana were able to join us for a day.
I found this little guy swimming in the pool yesterday. Once creatures get in, they have no way out. I am not sure what type he is, but not a rattler which is all that matters.
Scout and Tila have been around forever. We got Scout around 2006 just after getting married. That was 16 years ago. We got Tila shortly after, maybe 15 and a half years ago (we don’t know how old they were when they came to us, but at least a year). They have been part of every day of our life ever since. They have traveled with us to many destinations, in and out of the US. They would wake us up every morning and we would get them to bed every night. For years we have been dreading their loss. They are getting old. But that had been progressing of late. They were pure enjoyment for us. But lately, they have been on a severe decline. It started with their inability to get up. I would come home from work and one of them would be stuck, unable to move, sitting in their own feces. It escalated to their not wanting to eat any more. I travel a lot for work, so I have been concerned about something happening in my absence. It was so bad last weekend that we had to make a choice. So on Sunday, we traveled down to Mexico and had them put down. This was the worst experience of my life. It’s hard to know what to do and having them both die in your arms at the same time was a bit too much. We will miss them greatly.
I took this photo of Tila a few hours before putting her down.
