Hiking Nacapule

It is Yunuen’s birthday this weekend. We traveled to the beach to celebrate with her family. We drove down late Friday night. It seems like such a long journey at night. It takes roughly 4 hours to get to Hermosillo. Then the 1.5 hour leg from Hermosillo to Guaymas feels like another 4 hours.

It’s a great feeling when you arrive and can smell the sea. The excitement of the arrival gives a surge of energy that takes us late into the morning. We didn’t head off to bed until around 5.00am.

On Saturday we decided to visit the Nacapule Canyons. We’ve considered doing this numerous times in the past, but for one reason or another, we haven’t been before. Nacapule is about 25 minutes outside of San Carlos. The scenery is beautiful and the hiking is excellent. This is undoubtedly the best time of year to visit as it was warm, but not brutally hot as it is in the summer.

It was a fairly rigorous hike (by our standards) which ended when climbing gear was required. Next time we hope to be more prepared as there are plenty more things to see.
