Feliz año 2015

Bienvenidos a 2015!

Time flies. We had family over last night for celebration of the new year. We had dinner at midnight and then lit some balloons to release over Hermosillo. That was fun and it was not too terribly cold. I passed out around 3am. Yun didn’t go to bed until 5am.

I’ve never set New Year’s goals, but as cliché as that is, I am doing so this year. My gut is getting out-of-control. So I am going to try to commit to doing the South Beach phase 1 once again given the success I had the first time (nearly 20 pounds lost in the first month).

My hope is to reduce the weight in my stomach and in my face. Today was the first day and it went pretty well. I had three hard boiled eggs for breakfast and two carrots. I didn’t realize until later carrots are off limits for phase 1. Later for dinner I made chicken breasts with broccoli, scallions, and half an onion. I added olive oil and vinegar. It was actually pretty good and I haven’t been hungry all day.

I watched some videos today and read some articles to re-familiarize myself with the process. I am supposed to snack a lot, so that works out just fine for me. I can eat cheese and nuts, which are things I especially enjoy, so that will help.

Also I really want to make an effort to exercise more. I played squash today at the park with the family and ran for about an hour with the dogs. I enjoyed it but it was quite evident what bad shape I am in. I think audio books will be a really helpful motivation, so I’ll give that a try.
