Muchacho Polaco

I came across an old photo recently that was taken over 20 years ago I believe. We were hiking through the high Tatra Mountains in the Slovak Republic during a weekend break from school in Krakow. Good times.

Went to the dunes a week ago and had a great time and no accidents or broken down Jeep!

My friend and next door neighbor David invited us to his son’s 2 year old birthday a couple days ago. Surprisingly, it turned out to be quite a lot of fun. They have a lot of very interesting friends and of course the clown and magic show was spectacular.

It was so ridiculously nice out today. We went to one of our favorite restaurants after church this morning and were able to sit outside. This is the one or two months where we can enjoy the outdoors.

Orlando is a younger guy I have begun mentoring over the course of the last year. On Saturday he completed the 4-5 hour exam I put together to measure his competency with various subjects. The exam was quite difficult, so I was surprised he did as well as he did.

We went out to eat for some burritos after church this evening to celebrate Alfonso’s birthday. Surprisingly, they weren’t so bad. It’s the first burrito I’ve had in quite some time that has been good.

Last Saturday I had opportunity to spend the day working on the jeep. I have a long list of things to do, but all in good time.

The thermostat housing was looking rather rough. The thermostat itself was even worse. I also replaced the upper radiator hose.

The valve cover also was in rough shape, though it didn’t seem to be leaking. Even so, I removed it in order to paint it and to replace the gasket. In the process, I broke off the CCV valve. Fortunately, I had anticipated this possibility and had ordered a spare when I ordered the other parts. Removing that valve and grommet was a bit of a nightmare.

Getting the new valve and grommet in place was a breeze. The black engine paint worked out really well.

Mornings are my favorite part of the day.
