Scout’s new outfit

image

Given’s Scout’s history, I thought it appropriate to get him something that keeps his mouth closed. Naturally, he hates it. But I love it. I think it looks cool. The photo above was taken the first day I brought it home, so it’s actually upside down.

San Carlos fun

image

Yun and I do not head to San Carlos very often. Much less than when we lived in the US. That’s sad because we’re only an hour away. However, we have friends that have a home right off the water that invited us over for dinner a week ago. We arrived for dinner, but they invited us to stay a couple days in their guest house instead. We had a lot of fun despite running out of clean clothes.

It was supremely fun. We enjoyed the conversations and they were very generous to have us use their things. The vehicle above was one such example. It goes anywhere and so Yun and I toured around town, the beaches, and a near by village for the day.

Neighborhood party

image

We really enjoy living in our neighborhood. The people are strangely friendly (for Mexico) and we’ve had fun getting to know them. A month or so ago we had a neighborhood party at one of the pools. 50 to 60 people were in attendance and we had opportunity to meet nearly everyone. I took this awesome selfie.

Treviso alternative

We were scheduled to be in Treviso in northern Italy today. But things happen. So to compensate, we went to a restaurant in town that is a chain that originates from Treviso. The food was mediocre and the service was absolutely abysmal.

Banamichi

image

Yun and I recently traveled a couple hours northeast to visit a little town called Banamichi. It is one of the most northern pueblos on the Ruta de Rio Sonora. The area is beautiful. Very green and mountainous. It was a nice change from the desert.

We stayed at an hacienda style home off of the main square. It was beautiful. The view from the front of the hotel was this:

Banamichi is very clean and the people are very friendly. On Sunday we traveled 10mins out of town to go horseback riding. This was our third time on horses together and so there was a slight learning curve. We brought the dogs with us. We rode for a couple hours through various terrains.

The dogs were overly excited. So much that they continuously ran into the horses legs. Eventually Tila got stepped on which was enough for her to learn to keep her distance.

We had so much fun the first day that we decided to stay another night. This is a quick trip which we hope to do with some frequency.

first sermon en espaƱol

On August 30th, 2015 I was asked to preach at Church. I’ve done so a few times before, but always with translation. However, this was my first time attempt to do so in Spanish. I’ve never spoken publicly in Spanish, so I was really nervous. Overall I think I was mostly coherent, but not without numerous mistakes.

I am going to try again in October having been asked to give a lecture on Sola Gratia for a conference in Nogales.

Scout is sad

image

I took Scout to play with his ball tonight. I’m not sure at what point he injured himself, but he hurt his rear foot. There was a cut, but no blood. Normally he does fine with injuries. But not so much tonight. We took him to the vet up the street. With some pain killers, he’s doing well.
