Yesterday was very warm and provided an opportunity to work long on the yard. I spent hours at Mesquite Valley Nursery and brought home a number of new plants, including 3 new bougainvilleas. The apricot tree seems to be doing well and we actually have some apricots growing now. The orange tree continues to struggle. I dug around the base of the tree to determine if anything unusual was going on and found some of the soil was really strange – somewhat gooey. I dug up much of the soil and in the process found an ugly white larvae. I have no idea what this thing would eventually turn into, but I wasn’t about to allow it to grow any older. When I smashed it, white goo came out as if it had been filled with milk. Yummy!

That looks really awesome! You definitely do not want that eating up your new plants! Glad you found it.
