Weekend break

We spent the weekend in town. It was a nice break from traveling south.

Friday night we spent at Loews Ventana which is a resort in the north of town. It was very nice and they allow dogs.

They had a pretty impressive menu for dogs too. Needless to say, ours do not eat in that price range.

It was a really relaxing time. It feels like I  slept more this weekend than I have in the last few weeks. We also spent a lot of time watching HG tv, something we enjoy quite a lot.

Garden update

image

We haven’t been to the garden in about a month. We went last Monday and found all sort of treasure growing. The radishes have done really well. I pulled about 30 and planted new seeds to replace what we took. The lettuce and peppers are doing really well as well.

Mexican Chinese

image

We spent the day with Jacinto and Erika today in Hermosillo, which included an excellent lunch of comida china. We have been to this restaurant twice now and have been pleased both times.

The purpose of our day was to show Jacinto the pharmacy and to look for homes. The hope is for him to manage the place for us. We think he’d be great and asked that he give an answer by tomorrow.

We’re asking quite a lot. They live three hours away. Both of them will have to quit their jobs. They will have to find a new home here. No small tasks.

Even so, we want him to work for us. We need someone we can trust completely and will work hard to help us grow.

We will find out tomorrow.

Interviews

image

It’s Sunday. We are driving home from Hermosillo. It will take us 5 hours to get home. I enjoy the drive. It is the most relaxing part of my week.

The photo above is of the military checkpoint as you head north. It’s an hour or two from the border. These checkpoints are always hassle-free. I much prefer them to the US checkpoints.

Last weekend we finished most of the prep work on the pharmacy. We purchased some inventory and brought a lot of needed equipment.

This weekend we spent most of our time doing interviews. We began with a two hour interview Friday night with one we hope will manage. We continued with 8 scheduled interviews on Saturday. This gets old pretty quick. Fortunately not everyone showed up. We did however find some great candidates out of about 50 people that have applied so far.

Since the person we hope will take the position is not in the same city, he will have to relocate in the immediate future. We are going to meet his wife and him next weekend to show them what they are getting into. They will have to look for a new home right away.

As always, we had some great food over the weekend. Losing weight is increasingly difficult these days.

We made a list of things on the ride home which we need to do to finish the house so we can sell it. It was no small list.

Then we have a long list of things which we want to sell so as not to have take with us. Not sure when we’ll have time to sell these things. I wish there was a convenient service for something like this.

We now await the emperor god’s priests to allow us re-entry into the holy land.

Watermellon

image

Scout likes watermelon and we have more than we know what to do with. We visited the garden late last night in the dark and found that our new crop is coming in nicely from seeds. Lots of rashes and lettuce and bell peppers.

Cruise and swim

We chartered a boat for the evening. It was a nice break to an insanely busy week. Also, it’s Gabby’s 30th bday today. We had an awesome dinner (my first meal of the day).

Breakfast at VIPS

image

VIPS is a restauant chain in Mexico with awesome breakfast food. I don’t know what VIPS stands for, but it has nothing to do with my importance. Check out the rotating book rack over Yun’s right shoulder. I want some of those.

Tacos Pina

image

After a rather long day, we found our way to Tacos Pina. So good. I had three tacos carne asada, one taco del pastor, and a plate of beef ribs.
