Cilantro

I have a pretty impressive window ledge in my office at work. I have put it to good use. the entire thing is covered in plants. As seen in the picture above, I have recently started growing cilantro.

I have another plant which I cannot determine if it is a  golden pothos or a variety of a heart leaf philodendron. They propagate very easily.

Matt becomes a delagate for Ron Paul

Dana text me maybe a week ago to tell me Matt was nominated as delegate for the Republican primaries in his area (Minnesota). Arizona is next on the schedule for the end of this month. We tried to get seats for the debates, but that didn’t happen.

Matt wrote a great speech to get elected as a delegate:

“In 1770 Alexander Tyler said this about the cycle of democracy:

We move from bondage to spiritual faith;
From spiritual faith to great courage;
From courage to liberty;
From liberty to abundance;
From abundance to complacency;
From complacency to apathy;
From apathy to dependence;
From dependence back into bondage

I ask you friends, in what phase are we? With welfare rolls exploding, foreign owned debt crushing our economy, the legislator knocking down our doors telling us what we are allowed to do under the law instead of how the law will offer us freedom, when patriotism means we can’t question our leaders and liberty is the choice between a body scanner and a pat down. I ask you again my friends, how have we come this far?

We are all here tonight because we believe that America can break free from the bondage of debt, class warfare and dependency offered to us by this administration. Our hope isn’t in the next bailout, but the free market. We believe social justice is about tearing down the walls that separate us, not lifting some over at the expense of others; that Washington has a spending problem, not a revenue problem!; and that the Constitution cannot be interpreted to mean just anything, for it would then have no meaning at all.

I am part of your community, your neighbor, and I’m asking you to allow me to be a part of the biggest turn around in our country’s great history.”

i love coming home to dinner.

Brutal day at work. Scout tore off his bandages again today…..

Dinner was redemptive.

Phil and Nancy were over for dinner tonight. Yun made an incredible pork with tamarind sauce and rice. It was then on to a round of Nutz, one of our board games from the 80s. Good times…

Sadly, I lost to Nancy who was playing for the first time.

I love these things. Since I am generally always running late for work, this becomes breakfast.

Another day at the hospital

image

Dropping Scout off for his bi-weekly visit to the vet. He will spend the entire day here.  After doing this for many weeks, you would think he would be comfortable with this place by now. Sadly, that is not the case.

beautiful sunset

We met a friend of Abraham’s last weekend in Guaymas who just started with his interest in photography. He was sharing some photos and one which I really liked a lot is the one below.

There are so many beautiful sunsets when we go down – but it’s hard (for me at least) to properly capture them in photo.

Hiking Nacapule

It is Yunuen’s birthday this weekend. We traveled to the beach to celebrate with her family. We drove down late Friday night. It seems like such a long journey at night. It takes roughly 4 hours to get to Hermosillo. Then the 1.5 hour leg from Hermosillo to Guaymas feels like another 4 hours.

It’s a great feeling when you arrive and can smell the sea. The excitement of the arrival gives a surge of energy that takes us late into the morning. We didn’t head off to bed until around 5.00am.

On Saturday we decided to visit the Nacapule Canyons. We’ve considered doing this numerous times in the past, but for one reason or another, we haven’t been before. Nacapule is about 25 minutes outside of San Carlos. The scenery is beautiful and the hiking is excellent. This is undoubtedly the best time of year to visit as it was warm, but not brutally hot as it is in the summer.

It was a fairly rigorous hike (by our standards) which ended when climbing gear was required. Next time we hope to be more prepared as there are plenty more things to see.
